This is the first animal to use the bifocal technology (the larvae of this beetle found to have two retinas and two distinct focal planes--as in DSLR lenses-- where it can focus up-close to distance; REF: WIKIPEDIA).
When its water source dries up fly to searching of others. Interesting fact that it could feed as swarming  masse on prey. They feed on mainly the mosquitoes' larvae and pupae. That hints that it could be used for the control of mosquitoes. On captivity it can be feed with live crickets and flake fish feed.
